The South Buru ( Indonesian Buru Selatan ) is a government district ( Kabupaten ) in the Indonesian province of Maluku . 50,999 people live here.

South Buru consists of the southern part of the island of Buru and the southeastern island of Ambalau ( Ambelau ). The area of ​​the administrative district is 6,723 km². The capital is Namrole .

The administrative district is divided into the sub-districts ( Kecamatan ) Kepala Madan in the northwest, Leksula southeast of it, Namrole in the center, Waisama in the east and the island of Ambalau.
