Atonement Cross (Reichardtswerbe)

The atonement cross of Reichardtswerbe is a listed atonement cross in the district of Reichardtswerbe of the city of Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt . It is registered as a minor monument in the local cultural monument register under registration number 094 66217 .

The atonement cross from Reichardtswerbe is a parallel-edged Latin cross from the 15th century. In the vernacular two stories exist about the reason for the formation of the cross. Afterwards the cross either marks a place where a rider sank in the swamp of a spring or it is related to a fratricide. The atonement cross stands on a green area in Kirchgasse, formerly Posendorf , in front of house number 22 and has been a listed building since 2017.
