The locomotives of the series Кп4 (German transcription KP4) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) were narrow-gauge steam locomotives that were manufactured according to the model type П24 from the Kolomna locomotive factory in various European countries with different names. This machine came from the Fablok locomotive factory between 1950 and 1957 .

history

The Кп4 steam locomotive is a narrow-gauge steam locomotive with a D wheel arrangement , 790 copies of which were delivered to the railways of the former USSR by the Polish company Fablok in the post-war period . On the basis of the project П24 , developed by the Kolomna locomotive factory, these machines were not only manufactured in Poland, but also as the КЧ-4 series in Czechoslovakia , the KB4 series in Hungary , the ПТ-4 series in Finland and the Bп series from the Votkinsky plants. These locomotives were intended to renew the steam locomotive fleet on the narrow-gauge railways in the former USSR. During production, many changes were made to the design of the locomotive, which resulted in a large number of external and structural changes. The locomotives did their job on the narrow-gauge railways of the former USSR until they were replaced by more modern traction systems. The exact date when the last locomotive was taken out of service cannot be found in the literature, but it can be assumed that they were in service until the 1970s. Most of the machines were scrapped after they were taken out of service, some vehicles have been preserved to this day as monuments, in museums or on children's trains.

The best-known surviving locomotive is the Кп4.447 , which was built by Fablok in 1955 and served in Bologoje until the 1970s . At the end of the 1980s, it was placed on the monument base at the Bologoje plant and has survived there to this day. The locomotive has been in operation on the Little October Railway in Saint Petersburg since June 1, 2014 , after having been thoroughly overhauled and brought into running condition. It was z. B. switched the firing of the locomotive back to wood firing (originally it was oil fired). The tender of the КЧ-4,332 was attached to her.

In addition, the Кп4-469 in the Pereslavl Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum has remained operational.
