The locomotives of the SŽD series ТГМ40 (German transcription TGM40) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are wide-gauge diesel locomotives with diesel-hydraulic power transmission primarily for operation on works railways . Series production began in 1982 in the Kambarka machine factory . They can be described as a standard gauge variant of the narrow-gauge SŽD series ТУ7 and are derived from this series.
history
The locomotive was originally under the name TГ7 M planned. In 1981 a machine with enlarged bogies, enlarged cab, larger wheel diameter and increased length than in the SŽD series ТУ7 was designed for work on tracks with a wide gauge. From 1982 this diesel locomotive was delivered under the brand name ТГМ40 .
They can be as successful modification of the narrow gauge - diesel locomotive called for the broad-gauge railway. In 1983 the locomotive was awarded the gold medal at the Leipzig trade fair . There are different details about the manufactured locomotives.
construction
The locomotive, like the SŽD series ТУ7, is a locomotive with an end driver's cab and a porch under which the machinery is located. It is equipped with the 1 D 12-400 B diesel engine, as the SŽD series ТУ7 had. It has a hydrodynamic transmission consisting of two converters. The cooling is carried out by a cooler that supplied the sections for cooling the water, the oil of the diesel engine and the oil of the fluid transmission. The fan of the cooler is driven by a hydrodynamic coupling that can be switched off . The cooling capacity of the cooler allows the diesel locomotive to be operated in tropical climatic conditions.
Modifications
In addition to the basic version , there is also the ТГМ40C , which is equipped with snow clearers .
