The locomotives of the class ЧС11 (German transcription TschS11) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are narrow-gauge electric locomotives .
By the mid-1960s, the electrification of the railway network in the Georgian SSR was almost complete. Therefore, the electrification of the only Georgian narrow-gauge railway, the Borjomi - Bakuriani line , began. This has a track width of 900 mm (according to other information 914 mm) and until then was still served by steam locomotives of the .п series .
A variant of the Czechoslovakian industrial railway locomotive of the type 17E was planned for use, as it was suitable for the tight curves and steep inclines. In 1966, 12 locomotives were built at SMZ in Dubnica nad Váhom and put into service by the Transcaucasus Railway as the ЧС11 series with the numbers ЧС11-01 to -12. In 1967 the electrification of the line with 1.5 kV direct current was completed.
The ЧС11 have a central driver's cab, which is fully equipped on both sides and on the roof of which there are two pantographs. The top speed of 45 km / h is adapted to the requirements of the route. The ЧС11 were delivered in green paint.
ЧС11-05 was later significantly modified at the manufacturer's works, it was given a roof protruding over the stems, which closes at the fronts and thus gives the impression of a closed locomotive body . The middle manager position remained unchanged.
In 2008 only six ЧС11 were still operational (ЧС11-02, -04, -06, -08 -09 and -12), as this number is sufficient for the scheduled two pairs of passenger trains after freight traffic has ceased. Numerous other ЧС11 were still parked. ЧС11-06 received a new paint job in 2007, which was adapted to the converted passenger cars with its red / gray color scheme.
