Sanha GmbH & Co. KG (formerly Sanha Kaimer GmbH & Co. KG ; original spelling SANHA ) is a family company in the field of heating, sanitary and connection technology based in Essen .

history

The company was founded in 1964 by Marianne and Friedhelm Kaimer in Essen-Kettwig, Germany. At first only import and export activities with various products of the sanitary and heating technology, from toilet seats to boilers, were carried out. In 1968 the production of fittings began and as early as 1970 the sales network for fittings made of copper and copper alloys was expanded across Germany.

In 1990 the business was expanded to all of Europe and fittings made of other metallic materials were added to production. In 1997, the Sanha-Press made of copper and gunmetal was introduced and in 1998 the plant in Legnica, Poland was founded.

Between 1996 and 2001, the company was involved in an illegal business cartel and was therefore sentenced by the European Court of Justice to a fine of 7.15 million euros in 2011 .

In 2000, the stainless steel fittings factory in Schmiedefeld near Dresden was taken over. At the same time, the Nirosan press fittings made of stainless steel were launched on the market.

Three years later (2003), the stainless steel pipe production of Sosta Edelstahlrohrwerk GmbH & Co. KG in Berlin was taken over. In 2012, the 14 different individual companies were finally merged into today's Sanha GmbH & Co. KG. In 2013 the SANHA bond was issued and the series production of lead-free fittings made of lead-free silicon bronze was started.

EU proceedings for illegal price fixing

In September 2006 the EU Commission fined 30 copper processing companies in the copper fittings product area for illegal price agreements . The Commission had found that Sanha Kaimer, with its subsidiaries Kaimer GmbH & Co Holdings KG and Sanha Italia, was involved in an illegal business cartel between 30 July 1996 and 22 March 2001 with regard to price fixing, discount agreements and the setting of price floors. The fine imposed on the Sanha Kaimer was 7.97 million euros. After Sanha Kaimer, among others, filed a lawsuit against the EU Commission on December 14, 2006, the European Court of Justice dismissed the main action in a judgment of March 24, 2011 and set the fine at 7.15 million euros.
