Ternat is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 15,746 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the main town and the districts of Sint-Katherina-Lombeek and Wambeek .

Aalst is twelve kilometers northwest, the city center of Brussels about 14 km east and Antwerp 40 km north-northeast.

The municipality has a motorway junction ( Ternat ) on the A 10 / E 40 and a regional train station on the Ostend - Gent - Brussels line . Brussels National Airport near the capital is the nearest international airport.
