Kampenhout is a municipality in the northern part of Dijlelandes in the province of Flemish Brabant in the Kingdom of Belgium . This place in Flanders has 11,972 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the districts of Kampenhout , Berg , Buken and Nederokkerzeel .

Mechelen is 10 kilometers northwest, Leuven 12 kilometers southeast and Brussels around 17 kilometers southwest.

The next motorway exits are in the west at Werde on the A 1 / E 19 , in the south at Bertem on the A 3 / E 40 and in the east on the A 2 at Wilsele . In Haacht , Kortenberg , Vilvoorde are the next and Mechelen regional stations . Brussels National International Airport is just a few kilometers southwest of the municipality.

On February 15, 1961 when came crashing a Boeing 707 of Sabena 72 inmates and a field worker on the ground killed on a nearby field. Among the victims were the entire 18-man national figure skating team of the USA and another 16 officials who were traveling to the World Cup in Prague .
