Opwijk is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 14,547 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It consists of the main town, the district Mazenzele and a few smaller villages.

Dendermonde is nine kilometers northwest, Aalst eleven kilometers southwest and the city center of Brussels about 20 kilometers southeast.

The next motorway exits are at Aalst and Ternat on the A 10 / E 40 and on the Brussels motorway ring. The municipality has a regional train station on the Dendermonde - Brussels line . The airport Brussels National close to the capital and just over 22 kilometers west of Opwijk located the nearest international airport.
