Lists on the subject

The SG 751 SAPR (SWISS ARMS Precision Rifle) is a precision self-loading rifle made by SAN Swiss Arms AG, the successor to SIG Arms AG.

history

The first drafts and prototypes of this weapon appeared in mid-1995. The predecessor was the SG 550-1 Sniper , which was too expensive and too small in caliber, so it was increased from 5.56 × 45 mm NATO ( .223 ) to 7.62 × 51 mm NATO ( .308 ). The weapon is still based on the proven SG550 series.

Another reason for the change in caliber to the internationally standardized .308 was the contract manufacture of the 5.56 mm (Gw Pat 90) and the 7.5 × 55 mm Swiss ammunition ( GP 11 ) specially made for the "old" assault rifle 57 .

technology

The SG 751 SAPR is an indirect gas pressure charger with a rotary head lock and is technically based on the proven SG 550 model series, but it fires the more powerful 7.62 × 51 mm NATO ( .308 ) caliber .

The barrel is cold hammered. The rifle can be used in a single shot or in series fire. The trigger has a pressure point and a trigger weight of 35  N , the trigger guard can be swiveled to both sides for shooting with gloves. The housing is equipped with a Picatinny rail and a hinged emergency visor.

The gas nozzle can occupy 4 positions, with which the amount of gas for the repeating mechanism can be regulated through differently sized passage bores.

The buttstock can be folded up, making the rifle 226 mm shorter without any functional restrictions. (However, coupled magazines can no longer be used.)

The 20-round magazine is made of impact-resistant, transparent plastic. This makes it 30% lighter than magazines made of sheet steel and the charge status is easier to see. The most common magazine has two cams on one side and two receptacles for such cams on the opposite side. This means that magazines can theoretically be linked without limits for a quick change in the so-called "jungle style" (although more than 3 pieces are not practical). Magazines are also manufactured without such a coupling system.

Model variants

The SG 751 SAPR is available in two versions with different barrel lengths. The Long Barrel (LB) version with barrel lengths from 16 "to 20" and the Short Barrel (SB) version with barrel lengths from 13 "and 14".

equipment

The plastic handguard can be replaced by a handguard made of aluminum with 4 Picatinny rails for mounting attachments such as TacLight or a bipod . To use a grenade launcher , the lower hand guard can be removed and the GL 75140 can be attached instead.

The Swiss Arms also manufactures a sight which is derived from that of the SG 550 . The rear sight with the 4 positions can be mounted on the Picatinny rail on the housing, the front sight attachment can be folded down and is attached to the front sight holder at the muzzle.

The foldable shoulder rest can be exchanged for a foldable sliding shaft, which can be pushed in in 2 steps by 20 mm each. However, this prevents the assembly of the cheek rest.

The standard pistol grip can easily be replaced by others, which gives the shooter another opportunity to adapt his rifle to his individual needs.

For use in the shooting range or in covert operations , a case catcher can be attached to catch the ejected cases.
