Merger 2012

A merger of the two traditional associations was discussed as early as 1994. However, that proposal was dashed due to decades of rivalry. The second attempt barely ten years later also failed. In 2012, an agreement was finally reached and on April 22nd the merger of FC , ESV and JFG Chiemgau Traunstein , a junior development association of the two clubs founded in 2007 .

Since both previous clubs were playing in the district league at the time of the merger, the SBC also started there in its first season as a new club. Already in the third attempt they were eleven points ahead of second in the table SV DJK Kolbermoor and were promoted to the national league under coach Adam Gawron. In the first national league season in the club's history, they achieved an acceptable 8th place in the end. One year later, in the 2016/17 season, the SBC under Jochen Reil only narrowly failed in the championship with three points behind TuS Holzkirchen . So you did not get promoted directly, but qualified for the relegation to the Bayern League. There, the Traunsteiners first met SV Donaustauf, who was then runner-up in the Landesliga Mitte , who was then trained by Klaus Augenthaler . After a 2-1 home win in front of just over 1000 spectators and a 1-0 away win, they moved into the second round of the relegation. The Chiemgauer had to compete against the TSV Bogen , which tried to avoid relegation from the Bayern League. Traunstein was able to win the home game again in front of 1,400 spectators in the Jakob Schaumaier Sportpark and won 2-0. In Bogen they were down 1-0 for a long time and it stayed exciting until the end. But with the equalizer from a penalty in the 89th minute, Alexander Köberich made everything clear and Traunstein was promoted to the Bayern League. In the first Bayern league season they only reached 15th place in the table and had to compete again in the relegation between the state and Bayern leagues. There you met the league competitor BCF Wolfratshausen . After a 1-1 draw in the first leg and a 3-1 defeat in the second leg, the SBC Traunstein had to start relegation.

Venues

After the merger of FC and ESV, the demolition of the Triftstadion , the home of 1. FC Traunstein, which was located in the Au district immediately below the old town, began. Today there are multi-family houses on the old site. The games of the new club were from now on played in the stadium at the Viadukt , the old venue of the ESV Traunstein. At the same time, the construction of the new sports park began, for which the area of the directly adjacent former training grounds of FC and ESV in the district of Empfing was used. In the 2013/14 season, the first 5 home games of the SBC still had to be played on the football field in the neighboring community of Surberg and even after the completion of the new sports park, which at that time was still called EHG Sportpark , two more games were played on the adjacent pitch. The first game in the new stadium was against FC Töging in front of 500 spectators. The stadium on the viaduct had to give way to a new sports facility and was demolished. At this point, a new building with an athletics facility and an artificial turf field was erected.

There are a total of 10 football pitches in the sports park, including a main pitch, a secondary pitch, 6 training pitches, an artificial turf pitch and a public leisure pitch.

The functional building of the Jakob Schaumaier Sportpark has a grandstand on which there is space for 467 spectators on covered seats and around 150 on covered standing places. On the upper floor there is a stadium restaurant with a kiosk, offices, a caretaker's apartment and sanitary facilities for spectators and the restaurant. In the basement there are trainer, referee and 6 team cabins with sanitary facilities. There is also a jersey washing and storage room as well as storage areas for training equipment and the technical rooms.

Due to the unfavorable location of the stadium in the flood area of the Traun , protective walls had to be built around the squares, which also serve as paths and standing areas on the edge of the field.

The sports park was renamed Jakob Schaumaier Sportpark in 2014.

Youth work

Traunstein is an important location for promoting talent in the region. Mainly because the SBC Traunstein became one of 19 nationwide BFV youth training centers in 2016 . At the end of the 2017/18 season, four youth teams reached 1st place in the table. The SBC starts the 2018/19 season with four youth teams in the regional league.
