The SC Wasungen was a sports club from the Thuringian city of Wasungen .

history

The SC Wasungen was founded in 1908. In the 1930/31 season , the club's football department was promoted to the Gauliga West Thuringia , one of the then several first-class leagues of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs . Already in the second season in the Gauliga, the club managed to win the Gaume Championship with a victory over SpVgg Zella-Mehlis 06 with the same points . As a result, Wasungen qualified for this year's Central German football final . In the first round, the club met Schwarz-Gelb Weißenfels on March 13, 1932 , but the game was canceled for unknown reasons when the score was 1: 3 and had to be repeated. In the replay on March 20, 1933 Wasungen prevailed 3-2. In the 2nd round Wasungen was eliminated by a 1: 5 defeat against 1. Vogtland FC Plauen .

In the course of the Gleichschaltung , the VMBV and consequently also the Gauliga West Thuringia were dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. No club from this Gau received a starting place for the first-class Gauliga Mitte , which was newly introduced from 1933 , the SC Wasungen was sorted into the third-class district class West Thuringia of the football region and rose to fourth class after the 1938/39 season. The association was dissolved by 1945 at the latest. SG Wasungen was founded in Wasungen after 1945 , later renamed BSG Traktor Wasungen and BSG Chemie Wasungen and today it exists as SV Grün-Weiß Wasungen .
