The SFB MB 2 railcar was procured from Faaborg – Svendborg Jernbaneselskab (SFB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Faaborg , which opened in 1916 .

history

For passenger traffic on the route between Svendborg and Faaborg , the company acquired a four-axle railcar with two bogies in 1926 to save on locomotive-driven trains . The supplier was the Danish locomotive factory Scandia A / S in Randers, the delivery took place on July 9, 1926. The vehicle had the order number 2067.

On July 12, 1926, the railcar ran as an anniversary train for the 50th anniversary of the Sydfyenske Jernbaner (SFJ).

Technical Equipment

The railcar had a gasoline engine and a mechanical four-speed gearbox. It was equipped with an air brake. During the Second World War from 1941 to 1945 he received a gas generator . 1947 was rebuilt, the vehicle received a large cab to cargo to transport. From this point on, there were only 71 seats left.

DSB MBF (I) 482

The management on this route had been the Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab (SFJ), which was responsible for the vehicle maintenance and the use of the vehicles.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SFB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SFB and did not become the property of the state railways. He received the series designation MBF (I) and the road number 482.

It was modernized at Scandia in 1950.

OMB MH 6

In 1952 it was sold for 200,000 crowns to Nordvestfyenske Jernbane to operate the Odense – Middelfart – Bogense line . There it was given the designation OMB MH 6 .

When Scandia was remodeled again in 1954, it received a six-cylinder Hercules diesel engine and was converted to diesel-electric operation.

A side wall of the railcar was badly damaged in a shunting accident in Brenderup on July 6, 1962. On October 2, 1962, the train ran into a herd of cows near Mejlskov and derailed. On October 8, 1962, he collided with an OMB bus near Brenderup. After these accidents it was restored in Odense and received a six-cylinder Leyland diesel engine with 160 hp. It was back in service in January 1964 and was shut down in the same year.

RHJ M 4

In 1966 the railcar was sold again. He moved to Randers-Hadsund Jernbane for 10,000 kroner and was given the designation RHJ M 4 . It was in use until it was retired in 1969.

Whereabouts

After his retirement in 1969 he was purchased for 3,937.50 crowns from the Dansk Jernbane-Klub (DJK) for the Mariager-Handest Veteranjernbane (MHVJ). However, he was no longer used there. In 2016 the railcar was parked in Handest .
