The SFJ M 6-10 railcars were procured from Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab (SFJ) for operation on their Danish private railway lines .
history
In order to save on locomotive-driven trains, the company procured five six-axle railcars with three bogies for passenger transport on their routes . The supplier was the Danish locomotive factory Triangel in Odense , the vehicles had the serial numbers 1350-1352 as well as 1354 and 1359. In 1936 the vehicles procured as SFJ M 6-10 were renumbered SFJ MD 6-10 .
Technical Equipment
The body of the railcar was supplied by Scandia A / S in Randers . The electrical equipment came from Thrige. While the front and rear running bogies had no drive, the motor bogie in the middle of the car contained the entire drive technology of the vehicle with a diesel engine from Burmeister & Wain , which produced 350 hp. The power transmission was diesel-electric.
SFJ MD 8
The railcar suffered fire damage in 1935 and was repaired. After another fire in 1947, the vehicle was taken out of service and scrapped.
DSB MDF
With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), their vehicles were transferred to the state railways. The railcars were given the series designation MDF . The vehicles MD 6, 7, 9 and 10 were taken over . MD 6, 7 and 9 were given the company numbers MDF 491 , MDF 492 and MDF 494 and continued to be used in passenger transport.
MD 10 , which went to DSB without an engine, was used as a CQMP 3500 railcar trailer . It was sold to Nordvestfyenske Jernbane in 1950 as OMB MD 3.
MDF 491
The railcar was in use from Odense Syd until 1954 and was then parked. The decommissioning and scrapping took place in 1957.
MDF 492
The railcar was in use from Odense Syd until 1952 and was sold to Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane in the same year . There he received the number OKMJ MD 13 .
MDF 494
The vehicle, which was also taken over without an engine, was only used briefly as a railcar trailer and sold in 1950 to Nordvestfyenske Jernbane for their Odense – Middelfart – Bogense (OMB) route. It was given the number OMB MD 5 .
OKMJ MD 13
After the acquisition by Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane , the OKMJ MD 13 was equipped with an eight-cylinder diesel engine from MAN with 400 hp. It was in use until 1966 and after its retirement was sold to Vemb – Lemvig – Thyborøn Jernbane (VLTJ).
VLTJ M 13
The OKMJ MD 13 , which was taken over by Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane , was given the company number VLTJ M 13 , but was no longer in operation and served as a spare part donor for other railcars of the same type that were in use with the VLTJ. The car body was taken to the gravel pit in Rome and scrapped there in 1969.
OMB MD 3 / MD 5
MD 3
The CQMP 3500 that DSB had not acquired was converted by Scandia in 1950 and received the machine frame of the OMB M 3, which was retired the following year after a fire on September 29, 1948 . In 1952 he received an eight-cylinder diesel engine from MAN with 400 hp. The retirement took place in 1966.
MD 5
The MDF 494 bought by DSB in 1950 was acquired by Nordvestfyenske Jernbane without a motor and designated as OMB MD 5 . However, the company had a reserve propulsion unit purchased by SFJ in 1949 , which was installed in the railcar. In 1952, the B&W engine was replaced by an eight-cylinder diesel engine from MAN with an output of 400 hp.
The vehicle collided with a truck near Morud on May 7, 1962 and was parked damaged. The decommissioning took place in 1966, the scrapping in 1967.
