SGT5-8000H

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SGT5-8000H is a gas turbine manufactured by Siemens for the 50 Hz market. The model for 60Hz is called SGT6-8000H. It is manufactured in the gas turbine plant in Berlin-Moabit .

Technical specifications

With an output of 450 MW, the SGT5-8000H is one of the most powerful gas turbines in the world. The gas turbine unit has an efficiency of> 41% (or a heat rate <8780 kJ / kWh). At a pressure ratio of 21: 1, it generates an exhaust gas mass flow of 935 kg / s at 630 ° C, which was designed for combined cycle use. The NOX emissions are below 25 ppm, based on natural gas as fuel. The turbo machine has a weight of 445 t and is 12.6 m long with a diameter of 5.5 m.

The machine is optimized for operation in combined cycle power plants . In the single- shaft arrangement, which Siemens designates as SCC5-8000H 1S, it delivers a net electrical output of 665 MW and in the multi-shaft arrangement 2x1 1335 MW. In the CHP version, it can extract up to 30% useful heat, which, however, leads to a decrease in the net electrical output. Within 30 minutes after a hot start, the combined cycle power plant reaches the full performance of the combined process.

Market development

A prototype was successfully tested in Unit 4 of the Irsching power plant in 2008 and 2009. A test run at the Lausward power plant in Düsseldorf in January 2016 showed an electrical efficiency of the combined cycle power plant unit of 61.5%.

The Siemens SGT5-8000H and its 60Hz counterpart is the market leader of the so-called H-class gas turbines with over 80 machines sold. GE is behind with its models 9HA and 7HA. With the M701j and M501J, Mitsubishi has a similarly powerful gas turbine. Ansaldo Energia, as the (partial) successor to Alstom, has announced a model of similar performance with the GT36.

Calls

50 Hz version (SGT5-8000H, gas turbine output up to 450 MW):

  • After completion of the trial operation of the SGT5-8000H in Irsching-4, the system was supplemented by a downstream waste heat steam generator. The completed combined cycle power plant was commissioned by E.ON on September 15, 2011 under the name Kraftwerk Ulrich Hartmann .
  • Another turbine is installed in the Fortuna block of the Lausward power plant in Düsseldorf. The combined cycle power plant achieves an electrical efficiency of 61.5%. If the district heating is taken into account, a fuel efficiency of approx. 85% is achieved.
  • In March 2015, an SGT5-8000H went into operation in Samsun ( Turkey ).
  • Two turbines were installed in the new Prai combined cycle power plant in Seberang Perai ( Malaysia ); the commissioning was in 2016.
  • Four turbines will be delivered to the RAPID refinery complex in Johor (Malaysia) and will generate [obsolete] 1220MW of electricity and 1480 tons of process steam per hour there from 2017 .
  • 24 pieces (8 pieces each) for the Beni Suef, Burullus and New Capital power plants in Egypt.
  • A combined cycle plant (block 6) based on the SCC5-8000H 1S is being built in the Herne power plant. A SGT5-8000H is therefore installed. Commissioning is planned for mid-2022.

60 Hz version (SGT6-8000H, up to 310 MW):

  • The US electricity supplier Florida Power & Light (FPL) ordered six turbines for two gas and steam power plants. The first of the six turbines went into operation in Cape Canaveral at the end of November 2012 ; the remaining five went into commercial operation between 2013 and 2014.
  • A turnkey power plant (1 × SGT6-8000H) was built in Bugok ( South Korea ) and went online in 2013.
  • Two SGT6-8000H were ordered for a turnkey power plant in the South Korean city of Ansan . With district heating extraction, the fuel efficiency is over 75%. Commissioning took place in 2014.
  • The fourth SGT6-8000H for the Korean market was ordered in April 2012 for a power plant in Andong City and went into commercial operation in April 2014.
  • In July 2012, another three machines were sold to South Korea: The company Posco Energy has ordered the turbines for an expansion of the existing Incheon power station near Seoul.
  • A machine is scheduled to go into operation in 2016 at the new San Gabriel power plant in the Philippines.
