The SG Letter 05 (officially: Sportgemeinschaft Letter von 1905 eV ) is a sports club from the Letter district of the city of Seelze in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony . The club owns divisions for football , handball , swimming , table tennis and volleyball , among other things .
Club history
In 1905, the football club Viktoria Letter was founded in Letter . After athletics was also practiced in the club , the name was changed to Sports Club Letter from 1905 in 1922 . After the Second World War , the club was re-founded as the Volkssportgemeinschaft Letter von 1905 eV ( sports community since 1965 ).
Football department
In the 1948/49 season , the club rose to what was then the highest amateur class in Lower Saxony, the Lower Saxony State League. The SG Letter reached eleventh place, which was not enough to qualify for the Lower Saxony amateur league, which was newly formed in 1949 . Since then, the club has played in the lower divisions of the Lower Saxony Football Association ; only from 1954 to 1958 the SG Letter belonged to the second highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.
In the 2000s, the SG Letter commuted between the district league and the district class. From 2013 to 2019, the club established itself in the district class before relegation to the district league Hanover again for the 2019/20 season.
Personalities
The Bundesliga players Werner Olk and Jürgen Milewski played for SG Letter as young people.
