The SG Liegnitz was a sports club in the German Empire based in what is now the Polish city of Legnica .
history
On May 8, 1938, the club competed at home against the Breslauer SpVgg 02 in the first preliminary round of qualification for the Tschammer Cup 1938 ; the game could be won 3-2. The team was then unable to qualify for the finals.
For the 1939/40 season , the club rose from the 1st district class to the Lower Silesia District League , where it went under the name Post-SV Liegnitz . In the first season the team reached third place with 11:13 points. In the next season , sixth place was only possible with 4:14 points. With the withdrawal of a few other teams, the club would not have had to relegate anyway.
In the 1941/42 season the club reached third place in the table under the name Post-SG Liegnitz in 1st class Lower Silesia with 5: 7 points. In the next season, the team reached fourth place with an even goal difference of 11:11 points. After this season, the club rose to the Gauliga Lower Silesia for the 1943/44 season, along with all the other teams that had not yet been canceled, and was incorporated into the Liegnitz squad within the Görlitz / Liegnitz group .
But here the team played under the name SG Liegnitz . After only a few games played, the team withdrew from the game. In the 1944/45 season , the game operations in the SG group were no longer taken up at all. At the latest at the end of the Second World War , the association was also dissolved.
