The District League Lower Silesia 1939/40 was the seventh season of the District League Lower Silesia . It served, in addition to the District League Middle Silesia 1939/40 and the District League Upper Silesia 1939/40 as one of three second-rate district leagues, the substructure of the Gauliga Silesia . The champions of the three district classes qualified for a promotion round in which two promoted to Gauliga were played.

The District League Lower Silesia was divided into two groups with seven teams each this season, the winners of which played the district champions in two finals. In the end, VfB Liegnitz secured the district championship in the final against ATV Penzig and thus took part in the promotion round to Gauliga Schlesien 1940/41 , in which the Liegnitz team were able to secure promotion to the Gauliga together with SC Vorwärts Breslau .

Due to the war there were quite a few game cancellations, so that just a little more than half of the scheduled games could take place. For the next season, the District League Lower Silesia was renamed 1st Class Lower Silesia .

Final championship district league

In the final of the championship in the district league, the winner of the West Group, ATV Penzig , and the winner of the East Group, VfB Liegnitz , met. The first leg took place on June 30, 1940 in Penzig , the second leg on July 7, 1940 in Liegnitz . Liegnitz was able to prevail and took part as the Lower Silesian representative in the promotion round to Gauliga Schlesien 1940/41 , in which the team made it to the Gauliga.
