The District League Oberschlesien West 1940/41 (from this year 1st Class Upper Silesia West ) served as one of four second-rate district leagues as one of four second-rate district leagues , alongside the District League Lower Silesia 1940/41 , the District League Middle Silesia 1940/41 and the District League Upper Silesia East 1940/41 Gauliga Silesia . As a result of the territorial gain in violation of international law as part of the attack on Poland , there were more and more clubs in the now enlarged Upper Silesia , so that this season the former Upper Silesia District League was divided into the leagues East , for the newly added areas, and West , for the old areas . Both provided an extra district champion for the promotion round to the Gauliga.

The regional league Oberschlesien West was played this season in two groups with ten or nine teams in a round-robin tournament with a return game. The two group winners played the district champion in two finals. In the end, LSV Reinecke Brieg prevailed and qualified for the promotion round to the Gauliga Schlesien 1941/42 . Since it was decided to divide the Gauliga Schlesien into the Gauliga Lower Silesia and the Gauliga Upper Silesia for the next season , all teams rose from this promotion round. In addition, the defeated finalist of this district championship could also rise.

Final championship district league

In the final of the championship in the district league, the winner of division 2, TuS Hindenburg 09 , and the winner of division 1, LSV Reinecke Brieg , met. The first leg took place on May 4, 1941 in Hindenburg , the second leg on May 11, 1941 in Brzeg . Brieg was able to prevail and took part as an Upper Silesian representative in the promotion round to the Gauliga Schlesien 1941/42 , in which all participating teams achieved promotion. However, due to its regional location, Brieg was promoted to the Lower Silesia Gauliga in 1941/42 . By splitting the Gauliga Schlesien into the leagues Lower Silesia and Upper Silesia, Hindenburg was allowed to rise to the Gauliga Oberschlesien 1941/42 as a defeated finalist .
