The sports community of 1896 Misburg in Hanover , also called Sports Community Misburg or SG Misburg , is a sports club founded in the 19th century in what is now the Hanover district of Misburg .
history
The sports community was originally formed in the early days of the German Empire as the Misburg men's gymnastics club (MTV Misburg).
In 1923, with the gymnastics department , a department for women was also formed. A few years later, in 1926, the sports field on - today - Ludwig-Jahn-Straße was built, on which handball , fistball and athletics games could then be played. location
After the National Socialists had banned the two Misburg men's gymnastics club Vater Jahn from 1903 and the Free Turnerschaft Misburg from 1906 , the two merged with the Misburg men's gymnastics club under the new name Turnerschaft Misburg from 1896 .
After the Second World War , the club was allowed to resume gaming under its current name in August 1945 with the approval of the British military government .
In 1948 the boxing department was added to the club , and in 1949 SG Misburg was allowed to use the Weiße Erde sports facility , which later became the Misburg sports park, the communal sports facility of the then still independent town of Misburg.
In 1960 the boxing divisions separated from the sports community under the name Box-Club Germania and football in the club FC Stern Misburg . Although the boxers returned to SG Misburg in 1969, the boxing department there was finally dissolved in 1976.
Especially since the end of the 1970s, women have also achieved outstanding successes (see below).
After the women were promoted to the 2nd handball league in 1994/95 in 1994 , the SG Misburg withdrew from the regional handball league in 2008 for financial reasons .
