history

The SG Schorndorf 1846 was created in 1992 by the merger of the company founded in 1903 VfL Schorndorf with the TuS Schorndorf , a merger of the previous clubs TV 1846 Schorndorf and was founded in 1949 SKV Schorndorf from the year 1976th

The most successful times for Schorndorf footballers were the 1960s and 1970s. In 1966, VfL Schorndorf succeeded for the first time in promotion to the 1st Amateur League North Württemberg, the third-highest German division at the time, from which, however, as a newcomer, he had to relegate directly. 1973 succeeded in returning to the 1st amateur league. This time the club was able to keep in the league until 1978. With the introduction of the Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemberg 1978, the VfL as a table Tenth failed to qualify for the new upper house and had the furnished including Verbandsliga Württemberg .
