Heiko Burmeister (born May 18, 1965 ) is a former German handball player and current trainer .

Until 1981, Burmeister was active as a track and field athlete for ten years before starting to play handball. From 1987 to 1990 he played with ESV Lok Hoyerswerda and Wissenschaft Freiberg in the 2nd division of the former GDR . In 1990 Burmeister moved to TSG Oßweil , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1991 . In 1991 he moved to SG Schorndorf , with whom he was promoted to the association league in 1994 . From 1994 Burmeister worked as a player coach, first for SG Schorndorf, then in Weinstadt and at TV Oeffingen.

From the 2001/02 season to 2008, Burmeister was assistant coach for the second division team TV Kornwestheim . From March 2004 he was also the coach of LHV Hoyerswerda in the regional league . During the 2005/06 season , Burmeister was interim head coach of the second division team of TV Kornwestheim. From 2008 to 2011 he was the coach of the national division SG Schorndorf. From March 2011 Burmeister was coach of the third division club TSG Söflingen. In November 2011 he was released in Söflingen. From March 2012 Burmeister worked as assistant trainer for TV Bittenfeld under Günter Schweikardt . The holder of the A license as a handball coach took over the coaching position of the second division team from Bittenfeld in March 2013 together with Jürgen Schweikardt until the end of the season after Günter Schweikardt had resigned as coach. In the 2013/14 season Burmeister was again active as a coach of LHV Hoyerswerda in the major league . He left Hoyerswerda during the season in January 2014. Since the 2015/16 season, Burmeister has been the trainer of SF Schwaikheim in the Württembergliga.

Burmeister is a trained insurance businessman . He lives in Winterbach . His son Florian Burmeister is also a handball player.
