The Sportgemeinschaft Vorwärts Frankenberg is a sports club in Frankenberg . Her focus is on popular sport . It emerged in 1990 from what was then the ASG Vorwärts Frankenberg association .

history

The ASG Vorwärts Frankenberg was founded in 1963 as part of the relocation of the 7th Artillery Regiment of the 7th Panzer Division from the Zittau location to Frankenberg as an army sports association at the Frankenberg location. In the soccer field, the ASG Vorwärts Zittau team was relocated to the small town in Central Saxony and transferred from the Dresden district league to the Karl-Marx-Stadt district league. In the double-track district league, the Frankenbergs were part of the inventory until the end of the 1960s. This was followed by descent into the district class, which was only achieved sporadically in the later years. The ASG had an average of around 1,000 army athletes from 1963 to 1990.

She achieved victories and high placements especially in the long-distance competitions of the Army Sports Association Forward and the Army Championships of the People's Army.

The ASG Vorwärts Frankenberg has been honored several times with the title "Best Army Sports Association". In 1989 the community was honored for its excellent performance at the "Sportstafette DDR-40".

In 1990, against the backdrop of reunification , the army sports community became a sports community.
