The New Heroes are a Dutch basketball club from Den Bosch . The club is the record champion in Dutch basketball with 16 titles.
history
The club was founded in 1952 as the Eerste Bossche Basketball Club . Ten years later they played for the first time in the highest Dutch basketball league, the Eredivisie, but not successfully. Since 1974 the club has grown steadily and always came into the play-offs without winning the championship. When Nashua became the main sponsor in 1979, the club achieved its first championship title. Thanks to sponsor payments, Den Bosch was able to develop continuously and henceforth dominated Dutch basketball.
In the period 1979 to 1988, the club won the championship nine times. This golden era played a decisive role in the fact that today's New Heroes can call themselves record champions. It was during this time that they reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup , which they lost to Pallacanestro Cantù in 1979 .
After becoming Dutch champions three times by 1997, the team lost its dominance in the league and had to wait until 2006 for the fourteenth title. The club continues to play an important role in basketball in the Netherlands, reaching the play-offs every time since 2002 and most recently becoming champions in 2012.
