The SSV Vingst 05 (officially: Sport- und Spielverein 1905 Köln eV ) is a sports club from the Cologne district of Vingst . The first soccer team played for two years in the then first-class Gauliga Cologne-Aachen and once took part in the Tschammer Cup , the forerunner of the DFB Cup .

history

On November 19, 1905, the “wild” football clubs Borussia Vingst and Concordia Vingst merged to form the Vingster football club 05 . Ten years later the association took its current name. In addition to football, there is now a tennis department . Thanks to their successful youth work, the Vingsters made it into the 1st district class Rhine in 1926 , the top division at the time. Two years later, the team had to relegate after a league reform and returned to the top class in 1930. With the introduction of the Gauliga Mittelrhein in 1933, the Vingster went back to the second highest division.

Three years later, the Vingster qualified for the Tschammer Cup, in which they were able to prevail in the first round in the replay against the Cologne CfR . In round two the end came after a 1:11 at Wormatia Worms . In 1939, the SSV reached the promotion round to the Gauliga for the first time as district class champions. Handicapped by an injury of their captain Max Stollenwerk, the Vingster failed at the Spvgg Andernach and Westmark Trier . Three years later he was finally promoted to the Gauliga Köln-Aachen, which had been formed in the meantime. There the team managed a 4-1 win against Alemannia Aachen in the promotion season , but the team lost 1:14 at VfL Cologne in 1899 . The SSV remained top-notch until the end of World War II .

After the end of the war, the SSV played in the district class from 1947. Three years later he was promoted to the state league , the highest amateur league on the Middle Rhine at the time. After only one year, it went back down to the district class in 1951 . Although the direct resurgence succeeded, but the Vingster had to relegate again after only one year at the end of the 1952/53 season . After a runner-up behind Blau-Weiß Köln in 1958, they were promoted back to the regional league in 1960, where the SSV came third two years later. After a fourth place in 1970, he was relegated to the district class two years later. It was the first of four descents in a row that brought the SSV to the 2nd district class in 1975.

It was not until 1983 that the company was promoted to the district league A, before being promoted to the district league in 1999. After three years it went back to the district league A, before the Vingster in 2008 were able to rise again to the district league. Again, the SSV held three years in the district league before it went back to the A district league. In the 2012/13 season, the Vingster were passed through to the district league B and were relegated to the district league C in 2016.
