The SVG Steinheim (officially: Sportverein 1910 Germania Steinheim eV ) is a sports club from Hanau am Main. With more than 600 members, it is the second largest sports club in the Steinheim district of Hanau on the left Main . It was created in 2011 from the merger of SV 1910 and SG Germania, shortly after both clubs celebrated their 100th anniversary. Previously, in 1999, FC Germania merged with SG Steinheim to form SG Germania Steinheim.
Soccer and tennis are the two main sports. In addition, there are offers in the area of Soma, women's and men's gymnastics.
Football department
The first men's team will play in the Frankfurt-Ost group league from the 2017/18 season.
history
The first meeting with another club was on February 18, 1910 (then still as SV eV Klein-Steinheim). Seligenstadt remained a narrow 1-0 winner.
In the same year the FC Germania Steinheim was founded. Germania's first successes brought the championship of the C-class in 1922 and 1928. After the game operations could be resumed after the First World War , Germania managed to establish itself in the B-Class in the following years. After several years without a game, it was able to resume in 1975 on the Hellenhang.
The meeting with 1. FC Nürnberg in the context of the Tschammer Cup that was held at the time can be seen as the highlight of SV Steinheim's footballing life . After the Nuremberg lead had been equalized twice, only an own goal in extra time marked the final result of 2: 3. In 1938 the game attracted an impressive 3500 spectators. The game a year later in the Tschammer Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt contained much less drama and was lost quite clearly with 1: 4.
Within three years, the SV 1910 Steinheim team rose three times in a row from 1963 to 1965. After the championship in the former A-class (today district upper league) followed the promotion to the district league (today group league) and then promotion to the group league (then fourth league). They only just missed the leap into the Hessenliga , then the 3rd division. In the decisive game against 1. Hanauer FC 1893 e. V. it was enough on neutral ground in Großauheim - in front of 5000 spectators - only to a 1: 1 draw. A victory would have been necessary in order to then play the decider against SpVgg Bad Homburg for promotion to the Hessenliga. The latest success of the SVG Steinheim in 2017 was the championship in the regional league combined with promotion to the group league.
The greatest sporting success of FC Germania Steinheim in 1986 was the championship of the B-League Offenbach-Ost and the resulting promotion to the A-class.

The women's team currently plays in the group league. The men's team plays in the Offenbach regional league.
history
With the establishment of the SV Steinheim tennis department on March 6, 1977, another milestone was set. In the same year those responsible in the club decided to build a 3-field tennis hall with international dimensions.
In the 80s, championships could be celebrated in the district classes. The first men's team stayed in the group league for a number of years, which was not achieved again after 1990.
Gymnastics department
In 1971 the first women's gymnastics department of SV Steinheim was founded. In 1992 the gymnastics department of SG Germania followed. In 2004 a men's gymnastics department of SV Steinheim followed.
Volleyball department
Also in 1971 a volleyball department of the SV was established. The department existed for more than 30 years and dissolved again in 2004.
Swimming department
In 1971 the department of Germania swimming women was founded.
Sports facilities
Football is played on the two courses "Am Pfaffenbrunnen" ( juniors + men ) and "Am Hellenhang" (men only). Tennis is played on 9 clay courts in summer and in the club's own indoor tennis hall on 3 courts (carpet) from October to April, i. In other words, SVG Steinheim is one of the few clubs in Hessen that enables tennis all year round.
