The SV Börnsen (officially: Sportverein Börnsen from 1948 eV ) is a sports club from Börnsen in the Duchy of Lauenburg . The first soccer team took part in the DFB Cup once.

history

The association was founded on August 15, 1948. Although Börnsen belongs to Schleswig-Holstein , the club's teams play in the Hamburg Football Association . After many decades in the lower divisions, he was promoted to the Hamburg regional league in 1977 . In 1978 the team qualified for the DFB-Pokal and lost in the first round at SV Chio Waldhof from Mannheim with a score of 5-0. A year later, the Börnsener were runner-up behind the Harburger TB 1865 and rose after a 4-0 play-off victory over Viktoria Wilhelmsburg in the Association League Hamburg .

The direct relegation followed. In the following 1980/81 season, the Börnsen runners-up behind VfL Geesthacht and defeated Eimsbüttel TV 3-0 in the decider . Since the club division SC Urania Hamburg missed promotion to the Oberliga Nord , the victory was meaningless for Börnsen. A year later, the club returned to the Association League and immediately came third. But in the following season 1983/84 it went back down to the national league. A 4: 2 in the decider against the Harburg TB 1865 succeeded in direct promotion, before relegation from the Hamburg amateur upper house in 1987 followed. Three years later, he was relegated to the district league.

In 1994 the club returned to the regional league and made it through to the association league in the following season. The club rose from this in 1998 and two years later had another chance to qualify for the DFB Cup. But the final of the Hamburg Cup was lost against TuS Dassendorf with 1: 5. After another relegation in 2013, SV Börnsen plays in the district league.
