The SV 01 Gotha is a former German sports club based in Gotha , which existed from 1901 to 1945.
society
SV 01 Gotha was founded in 1901 under the name FC Gotha 01 . From 1911 the Thuringian people renamed SV Gotha 01 .
On a sporting level, the club qualified a total of five times for the finals of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs , in which Gotha reached the quarter-finals twice and the semi-finals once. While SV Gotha was clearly defeated by the clear favorites of VfB Leipzig and Carl Zeiss Jena in the 1912/13 and 1922/23 seasons , the rather nameless club surprisingly beat SC Erfurt in the following season . In the quarter-finals, Gotha lost 3-1 to SC 06 Oberlind .
The greatest success in the club's history is the Central German semi-finals reached in 1925, in which the club won over Wacker Nordhausen and SpVgg. Erfurt was again subject to VfB Leipzig. When Gothaer Versicherung got on board in 1931 , the club functioned as SV Arnoldi Gotha until 1945 , after which it was no longer able to participate in the newly founded Gauliga Mitte .
In 1945 the club was dissolved, a re-establishment similar to the local rival Wacker Gotha was not carried out.
