The FC Erfurt Nord is a German football club from Erfurt - Ilversgehofen , currently about 200 members has. In the season 1976/77 the team played under the name BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt in the GDR league . In 2003, the soccer department of SSV Erfurt-Nord became FC Erfurt-Nord. At the moment Erfurt play in the regional class Thuringia and play their home games in the Sportforum Grubenstraße, which can hold 2,000 spectators.

history

1902-1945

The club was founded in 1902 as Teutonia Erfurt and merged with FC Germania Erfurt in 1912 to form SpVgg Erfurt. The club joined the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV). Already in the 1915/16 season they won the first North Thuringian Gaume Championship, but because of the First World War, no play-offs for the German championship were played. 1921/22 this succeeded again and in the final group of the Central German Championship, the team took 6th place. Also in 1924/25 they reached the North Thuringian Gautitel and failed in the second round of the play-offs for the Central German Championship with 1: 2 to SV 1901 Gotha (1st round: SpVgg Erfurt - VfL Meiningen 8-1). Also in the following year they were Gaumeister and also failed in the second round, this time at Preußen Langensalza with 0: 3 (1st round: SpVgg Zella-Mehlis - SpVgg Erfurt 2-4). The next Gautitel followed in 1928/29, but it was also here in the second round - 0: 2 against SC Apolda (first round: Prussia Nordhausen - SpVgg Erfurt 4-7). They were even more successful in the following season, again as North Thuringian Gaumeister, the team made it to the semi-finals of the Central German Championship, in which the team lost 5-2 at Dresdner SC (2nd round: Wacker Nordhausen - SpVgg Erfurt 0-1, Quarter-finals: SpVgg Erfurt - Borussia Halle 1-0).

In 1933 the team from Erfurt qualified for the newly founded Gauliga Mitte , at that time the highest German league.

After the forced dissolution of all associations in the Soviet occupation zone , the association was re-established under the name SG Erfurt-Nord in 1946 and merged with SG Erfurt-Ost to become SG Nordstern Erfurt, only to be renamed Union Erfurt a short time later. In 1948 the club took part in the Thuringian championship and was renamed in 1949 to BSG Pels Erfurt and in 1951 to BSG Stahl Erfurt. In 1952/53 the club reached 7th place in the Erfurt district league under the name BSG Motor Nord Erfurt . After the places 2, 2, 5 and 3 in the following years, the club rose as the first of the district league in 1957 in the 2nd GDR league . Here he took 8th place in the 1958 season as a promoter and only narrowly missed promotion as second in the 1959 season. Until the dissolution of the league in 1963, the club still reached places 4, 8 and 13. After relegation in 1964/65, the next season was promoted again and the club reached third place in the table. By 1972, it established itself in the league and reached the places 7, 8, 11, 13 and 3.

In 1972 the name was changed to BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt , in 1972/73 the footballers of the club reached 5th place in the district league, at the end of the 1973/74 season the team took 8th place. The men's soccer team took 6th place in 1975, and in the same year the women's team won the FDGB handball cup . In 1975 the soccer team rose to the GDR league , but rose again in 1976/77. The women's handball team made it to the top league for one season and the footballers took part in the FDGB Cup for the only time. In the district league they reached 4th place as relegated. While the footballers played in the district league for ten more years, the women handball players managed to play in the first division again from 1982 to 1985 under the direction of coach Bernd Fleck, and under coach Dago Leukefeld the women were again first class from 1987 onwards. In the 1987/88 season, the footballers were relegated from the district league, but managed to get promoted again to reach 14th and 8th place in the last two seasons.

Since 1990

In 1990 the name was changed to SSV UT Erfurt, and from 1992 onwards it was called SSV Erfurt-Nord. The handball players left the club after the reunification to later found the Thuringian HC . In 1995 the footballers were promoted to the Thuringian League and they ended the 1995/96 and 1996/1997 season in 9th place. In the 1997/98 season, the team became regional champions Thuringia and rose to the Oberliga Nordost (South Season) . While the 12th place was enough to keep the league in the first season, the club rose again in 1999/2000 with the same placement. In the 2002/03 season, the team was again Thuringia champions.

On March 12, 2003, the football department spun off from the entire club and renamed itself FC Erfurt-Nord. Under this name, the club first reached 15th place in the Oberliga Nordost (South Staffel), the following year it only reached 17th and penultimate place, combined with relegation to the Thuringian League, where the team in the 2005 / 06 reached 12th place.

On April 27, 2006, the association had to file for bankruptcy . Associated with this was the forced relegation at the end of the season. After the conclusion of the bankruptcy proceedings, the general assembly of the association decided unanimously on August 21, 2006 in favor of the association's continued existence. In the 2006/07 season, for example, the club took the assigned place with the 1st team in the national class relay east. This class could not be held again and the FC Erfurt-Nord came last. From the 2007/08 season the club played in the eight-class district league (Erfurt) and reached places 7 and 8 and again 7th, with the 2009/10 season playing in a syndicate with the neighboring TSV Mittelhausen. After the restructuring of Thuringian football for the 2010/11 season, the club has now been assigned to the eight-class regional class, season 4. Since 2012/13, the Nord-Erfurt team has played in the successor to the regional class, the Erfurt-Sömmerda regional league. In 2014 they became champions there and advanced to the national class.
