Gerhard Bäßler

Gerhard Bäßler (born January 24, 1924 in Chemnitz ; † February 1, 2007 in Erfurt ) was a German football coach .

Trainer

Gerhard Bäßler was initially a soccer player with PSV Chemnitz from 1934 and after the Second World War with BSG FEWA Chemnitz . From 1954 he began to work as a trainer. He initially worked at Motor Altenburg, Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and Chemie Riesa. In 1966 he became assistant coach under Martin Schwendler at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . In the summer of 1970, he took over from him the post of head coach of the league team , but rose as the table penultimate after a year from the GDR league. He was then replaced by Siegfried Vollrath . In 1973 he took over the position of head coach at FC Rot-Weiß for the second time, which he held until the end of the 1977/78 season. He then became the responsible trainer at the top division club Sachsenring Zwickau. He saved the team from relegation, but was released again at the end of the season.

Later he was only active as a lower class coach, among other things he sat on the bench at Motor-Nord Erfurt .
