The 1st sports club Mörsch e. V. ( 1. SV Mörsch for short ) is a football club from Rheinstetten near Karlsruhe. He belongs to the southern Baden district of Baden-Baden and played several times in the 1st Amateur League South Baden and its successor Association League South Baden .

history

The club was founded in 1919 and took part in the local game classes of the Murg district in Baden until 1945. From 1945 to 1951 the 1st SV played in the top division of the Karlsruhe soccer district in North Baden. In the 1950/51 season he took second place in the A-Class Karlsruhe Season 2.

In 1950 there was a structural reform in southern Germany. The clubs from South Baden and South Württemberg switched from the southwest to the South German Football Association . The trips to Lake Constance were too far for the associations from the southern Baden district of Baden-Baden. Since a union of the two Baden football associations Badischer Fußballverband and Südbadischer Fußball-Verband failed, FC Phönix Durmersheim wanted to move from the southern Baden district of Baden-Baden to the northern Baden district of Karlsruhe. To do this, a club from north Baden had to switch to south Baden, which the 1. SV Mörsch agreed to do. Since then, 1. SV Mörsch has belonged to the South Baden Football Association, while FC Phönix Durmersheim moved back to South Baden in 1960 when the Black Forest and Lake Constance clubs were eliminated from the South Baden 1st Amateur League through the formation of the Black Forest-Lake Constance Amateur League.

The 1st SV Mörsch was assigned to the 2nd Amateur League South Baden Season I in the 1951/52 season. In 1954, the promotion round succeeded in being promoted to the 1st Amateur League South Baden, to which the 1st SV belonged without interruption until relegation in 1970. After that Mörsch was mainly in the 2nd amateur league Südbaden Season I or its successor Landesliga Südbaden Season 1, interrupted by a few years in the division of Baden-Baden. At its lowest point, 1. SV Mörsch played from 1994 to 1998 in the regional league B Baden-Baden season 4. Since the 2004/05 season it has been back in the regional league. As their champion, he was promoted to the Südbaden Association League in 2011, and in 2012 he was directly relegated to 14th place. In 2016 he was promoted to the association league again.

While the men of 1. SV Mörsch take part in the South Baden competition, the women of the club, with special permission, play in the Baden Association League in North Baden. Local rival TV Mörsch also still belongs to North Baden.

Successful player

In the 1960/61 round, center runner Willi Rihm moved to Karlsruher SC in what was then the first-class soccer league south . By 1963 he made 87 league appearances and by 1966 there were 33 games in the new Bundesliga .
