Willi Rihm (born August 18, 1936 - August 29, 1983 ) was a German football player . The middle runner in the former World Cup system played 87 games (1 goal) at Karlsruher SC from 1960 to 1963 in the first-class soccer league south and 33 competitive games from 1963 to 1966 in the soccer Bundesliga .

Career

At 1. SV Mörsch in southern Baden , the middle runner, who was strong in headers and duels, made a name for himself in the first amateur league in South Baden . In the game year 1959/60 he came with his home club against the competition from FV Offenburg , FC Konstanz , SV Kuppenheim , FC Rastatt 04 , VfB Gaggenau , SC Freiburg and FC Villingen on the fifth place. With the association selection of South Baden he was active in the country cup and also showed that his skills would be sufficient for the contract players' camp. For the 1960/61 season, Rihm moved as the successor to Bernhard Termath to the South German champions Karlsruher SC in the Oberliga Süd. The newcomer from Mörsch made his debut in the league on August 28, 1960 under coach Eduard Frühwirth in the away game against Jahn Regensburg. With goalkeeper Manfred Paul , the defenders Wilhelm Dimmel and Max Schwall and the outside runners Heinz Ruppenstein and Gustav Witlatschil , he formed the KSC defensive. On September 21, he moved into the final in the DFB Cup of 1960 with a 2-0 home win against FK Pirmasens. On October 5th, KSC surprisingly lost the final against Borussia Mönchengladbach with 2: 3 goals in Düsseldorf . The KSC runner row had run up with Ruppenstein, Rihm and Horst Szymaniak and Rihm had mostly had to deal with center forward Ulrich Kohn . National coach Sepp Herberger took the KSC stopper with him on an international trip to Athens and Sofia in November 1960, where it was not used in the international matches against Greece and Bulgaria. Herbert Erhardt , Ferdinand Wenauer and Leo Wilden were the stoppers of the national team. On November 8, 1961, the DFB-Elf carried out a test match against KSC in the Wildpark Stadium. In the decisive league season 1962/63 for the nomination for the new Bundesliga from 1963/64, Rihm completed all 30 round games for the KSC under coach Kurt Sommerlatt . With the achieved fifth place, the Baden moved into the Bundesliga. The blue-whites started the round on August 19, 1963 with a 3-2 home win in front of 35,000 spectators against 1. FC Nürnberg. Rihm played for Karlsruher SC from 1960 to 1966 . First in the Oberliga Süd and from the 1963/64 season with the KSC in the newly created Bundesliga . He made his debut on August 24, 1963, the premier match day of the Bundesliga, in the 1: 4 defeat of KSC in the home game against Meidericher SV . He could not transfer the leading role of the defensive chief of the upper division to the new Bundesliga. In the Bundesliga, Rihm played a total of 33 times for Karlsruhe.
