The SV 08 Kuppenheim is a football club from the Baden-Württemberg city Kuppenheim . It belongs to the Baden-Baden district of the Südbadischer Fußball-Verband .

history

The club was founded in 1908 as FV 08 Kuppenheim through the merger of FC Germania Kuppenheim (founded in 1906) and FV Kuppenheim (founded in 1907). As the successor club, SV 1946 Kuppenheim was formed in 1946, which was renamed SV 08 Kuppenheim in 1949. A first major success came in 1949 with the rise of the soccer team in the Oberliga Südwest . The sixth place could be occupied in the southern season. However, a structural reform took place in 1950. The first five clubs of the southern season of the Oberliga Südwest were integrated into the Oberliga Süd and the 2nd Oberliga Süd , while the clubs from sixth place onwards were assigned to the amateur leagues in South Baden and Württemberg.

In 1978, the club qualified fourth in the 1st Amateur League South Baden for the newly formed Oberliga Baden-Württemberg (at that time Germany's third highest division). After the second season, the SV rose in 1980 due to the poorer goal difference compared to two other clubs. A year later, in 1981, the footballers were promoted to the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga as champions of the Südbaden Association League . Here the SV Kuppenheim could hold four seasons. As fifteenth in the table, the club rose again after the 1984/85 season from the highest Baden-Württemberg football class.

In the 2008/09 season, the club rose after two years of membership from the association league and thus entered the seventh-class national league from 2009. After four years, the SVK managed to return to the Association League South Baden as state league champions in the 2012/13 season.
