The sports club Prussia 1919 Merchweiler is a soccer club from Merchweiler in Saarland .

history

In 1919 the SV Viktoria Merchweiler was founded , which merged with the SC Hellas 1920 Merchweiler to form SV Victoria Merchweiler the following year . In 1931 the SC Preußen Merchweiler split off, the original club disbanded in 1932.

After the Second World War , the club was re-established as SV Merchweiler . He then played in the Saar honor class in 1946/47 and after the integration of the Saarland clubs into the all-German game operations for one season in the second-class Saar honor division in 1947/48 . Subsequently, the club was one of the founding members of the Saarland Honor League , which was launched in 1948 , the top division in Saarland , which was independent at the time. Here she placed in the first two years of the championship in the middle of the table and ended the third season as runner-up behind the second team of 1. FC Saarbrücken . Thus, the club was one of the nine clubs that had played all three seasons.

In the 1951/52 season, the Saarland clubs were once again integrated into the German league operations, with the club now operating as SV Preußen Merchweiler as penultimate with one point ahead of SV Mittelbexbach in the third-class 1st amateur league . In the following years, the club regularly ended the seasons in the Saarland amateur league in the middle of the table, in 1958, as runner-up behind VfB Theley , he narrowly missed the promotion round to the II. Division with a better goal quotient by one point. After a third place in the following season, he was again runner-up in 1960, but the "Saarlandmeister" SV Röchling Völklingen had a five point lead. After another third place, the team slipped back into the middle of the table in the following years and rose in 1965 with just nine plus points as bottom of the table from the third-highest division. This went hand in hand with the unplayability of the own course, the "Haldy", which had been in use since the early 1930s, had become unplayable due to mountain damage . While the team played in sub-class amateur football, they used various sports fields in the area. In the German B-Junior Championship 1979/80 , the club once again attracted national attention, where the young players reached the quarter-finals. With Uwe Haas , one of the juniors subsequently came to 1. FC Cologne via 1. FC Saarbrücken and played in European Cups there .
