The handball players of the SV Rot-Weiß Kiebitzzeile

Since the founding year 1928 handball has been played in lapwing row , until 1967 mainly on the large field . The first attempt to found a women's team was made in 1947, but failed due to the transport options available at the time. Then in 1966 the second successful attempt. Just nine years later, the Red-Whites caused a stir nationwide when they qualified as North German champions for the final round of the German championship , in which the champions of the regional associations South, Southwest, West and Berlin also took part. The "Lapwings" were set for the semi-finals and met FC Bayern Munich there . The first leg in their own hall was lost with 9:11, and everything spoke for the South German champions. But in the second leg in Munich , the SV handball players managed what was hardly thought possible: they made it into the final with 11: 8.

The final took place in Lüneburg in front of 1200 spectators in the sold out Nordlandhalle. Opponent was the West Master TuS Eintracht Minden , who had switched off TSV GutsMuths Berlin . And the red-whites dominated the initial phase, even leading 5: 2 before Minden was able to shorten to 5: 4 half-time. In the second half, the high favorite from Minden turned the game around and secured the German championship with a score of 12: 8. In the following 1975/76 season, the two-track Bundesliga was introduced . The Kiebitzer landed in fourth place and were able to repeat this placement a year later. But then, after the 1976/77 season, he withdrew to the district league. In the 2007/08 season, the SV Rot Weiß Kiebitzreihe withdrew its women's team from the handball national league center.

On April 19, 2010 the handball departments of the clubs MTV Horst and Rot-Weiß Kiebitzzeile merged to form the HSG Horst / Kiebitzzeile .
