The SV Salamander Türkheim is a sports club from the Bavarian market town of Türkheim in the Unterallgäu district with departments for football , skiing and volleyball .
history
The team of the football club Türkheim played their first game on August 8, 1920 and from 1923 took part in the league game. The club name Sportverein Salamander Türkheim has been in effect since September 27, 1930 , as the Salamander company , which already had a branch in Türkheim at that time (today Salamander Industrie-Produkte ), offered the club financial support in return.
With the promotion to the district league Schwaben Süd, the footballers reached a league above the district level for the first time in 1967. Since August 15, 1970, they have been playing their home games in the newly built Wertach Stadium. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the club, 1. FC Nürnberg was a guest here on April 15, 1971 . In 1979 , despite a 3: 5 defeat against BSK Olympia Neugablonz in the final for the Swabian District Cup, they qualified for the first main round in the DFB Cup . Here they were eliminated with a 0: 4 at Bonner SC . A year later, the then fourth-class Landesliga Südbayern reached the highest level, from which the team had to be relegated after only one season.
Today, the men's team of the volleyball division founded in 1972, which is part of the Bayernliga Süd in the 2014/15 season, is particularly popular today.
