The SV Winterwerb eV is a sports club from Winterwerb in the Rhineland-Palatinate Rhein-Lahn district with the sports table tennis and gymnastics . SV stands for sports club .

The table tennis department was known nationwide. The women's team played in the Bundesliga until 2000 .

history

The club was founded in 1959 with the divisions table tennis and athletics, with table tennis being the main sport. In the 1959/60 season, a men's table tennis team took part in the game for the first time. In 1980 he was promoted to the 2nd Rhineland League. In the same year, a women's team was formed. The association attached great importance to youth work.

There has been a women's gymnastics group since 1977.

Table tennis

The women's team has existed since 1980. After several promotions, it reached the Rhineland-Palatinate League in 1986. In 1992/93 the league was passed in the march towards the regional league. Here, the team took second place in the 1993/94 season. Since the table top Sindelfingen renounced promotion, Winterwerb was able to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga with the line-up of Hannelore Dillenberger, Stefanie Henecker, Katja Wingen and Petra Steyer . The Czech Hana Placha was hired as reinforcement .

In the 1996/97 season, the team around Jie Schöpp , Hana Placha, Stefanie Henecker, Meng Xiang and Julia Minor took first place and thus rose to the 1st Bundesliga. It immediately took fourth place and thus took part in the play-offs, where it was defeated by Team Galaxis Lübeck . In the following years, Winterwerb reached fifth and ninth place. For financial reasons, the club moved the team back to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2000 and to the Regionalliga in 2002. Today (2015) there is no longer a women's team in winter advertising.
