S Club 8 , previously S Club Juniors , is the successor group to the British pop band S Club 7 .
Band history
Aaron Renfree, Calvin Goldspink , Daisy Evans, Frankie Sandford, Hannah Richings, Jay Asforis, Rochelle Wiseman and Stacey McClean were selected from thousands of applicants by S Club 7 in 2001 on the CBBC broadcast S Club Search to take part in their concert at Wembley Arena to appear under the name "S Club Juniors". Due to the great success, the formation then received its own record deal with Polydor .
In 2002, the first single One Step Closer was released , which rose to number 2 on the UK charts . The follow-up singles Automatic High and New Direction also reached 2nd place in the same year, Puppy Love / Sleigh Ride came in at 6th at the end of the year. The associated album Together climbed to 5th place in the charts.
Because the band now felt too old to be called "Juniors", in 2003 they were renamed "S Club 8". Fool No More and Sundown climbed to number 4 on the British singles hit parade, Don't Tell Me You're Sorry just missed the top 10 at number 11 in early 2004. The album Sundown could not repeat the success of its predecessor and only came up 13th place.
In 2004 the members of the group could be heard along with other actors from the British children's musical television comedy I Dream on the LP Say It's Alright . The album went largely unnoticed and could not place itself in the charts. Only the release Dreaming made it to 19th place in the UK Top 40. In 2005 the band split up.
