Saša Nestorović

Saša Nestorović (* 1964 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , soprano saxophone , composition).

Nestorović studied at the music academy in his hometown in Josip Nochta's class until he graduated in 1989. Then he continued his studies with Jesse Bennett and Renato Rožić at the Cologne University of Music and Dance . Since 1989 he has been a permanent member of the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet , with which he has performed in Europe and the United States. Since 1999 he has also performed with the contemporary music ensemble Acezantez. In 1999 he presented Croatia in the Big Band of the European Broadcasting Union in Montreal. He also composes for the band Zagreb Jazz Portrait ; he is also one of the Boilers All Starsand the jazz orchestra of Croatian radio and television, of which he has been chief conductor since 2007. He can also be heard on records by Gabi Novak , Pero Rogan, Jasna Bilušić, Ladislav Fidri, Jazzy Blef and Vesna Pisarović and has appeared with Uwe Ecker , Matija Dedić , Allan Praskin and Mario de Murier.

Nestorović teaches jazz saxophone and composition at the Zagreb Music Academy. He won numerous awards for music education; Between 1997 and 1999 the Croatian Union of Musicians honored him every year as the best tenor and soprano saxophonist.
