Vesna Pisarović

Vesna Pisarović (born April 9, 1978 in Brčko , SR Bosnia and Herzegovina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian singer and composer. Vesna Pisarović, who came from punk rock, became a pop star in her Croatian homeland. With her album With Suspicious Minds she opened up to jazz and improvised music .

Life

Vesna Pisarović was born in 1978 in Brčko ( Bosnia and Herzegovina ). When she was three years old, she moved to Požega ( Croatia ) with her parents . After Vesna had successfully finished high school, she studied Croatian Studies and Phonetics at the University of Zagreb , where she successfully completed her master's thesis and thus became a grammar school teacher for Croatian language and phonetics. Today she lives in Berlin.

Musical career

She made her singing debut at the age of 19. At the Zagreb Festival she performed the title Da znaš , a cover of Laura Pausini's title. This was followed by several appearances, and her debut album Da znaš , which was awarded silver. Her second album " Za tebe stvorena " even received gold. The single Jutro donosi kraj became the summer hit of 2001 in Croatia .

In 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2005 she took part in the Croatian qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest , the so-called Dora . In 2000 she reached 6th place with her title Ja čekam noć . Her title a year later Za tebe stvorena reached 4th place.

In 2002 Vesna won the Croatian preliminary decision and took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the country . In the Croatian preliminary round Dora she sang her song in the local language ( Sasvim sigurna ), in the international competition in English ( Everything I want ). Vesna reached eleventh place.

In the same year she also released her third album Kao da je vrijeme , which was her debut album in Bosnia and Herzegovina , Macedonia , Montenegro and Serbia . The album also received gold in Croatia. After this album, the previously successful collaboration between Vesna Pisarović and her producer and composer Milana Vlaović ended.

After her fourth album Pjesma mi je sve , from which the song Ljubomora in particular became a big hit, in 2003 she released two different versions of a "best of" album. In Croatia a 12-song version was released, while in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the countries where the singer made her debut with her third studio album, a "Best Of" album with 18 songs was released.

At the end of 2005, the fifth studio album with the title V. Peti followed. For this album, she not only wrote all the songs herself for the first time, Pisarovic also experimented with various styles such as electro sound , jazz , folk and rock in addition to pop .

A total of eight very different songs from this album were released for promotion .

Vesna wrote several songs for herself and other performers. So she wrote the Bosnian-Herzegovinian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 In the Disco , which was interpreted by Deen . In 2006 Pisarović took part in the Zlatne žice Slavonije Festival in Požega with her new title Imam sve, al 'tebe ne , which won # 1 in the Croatia Top 10 . Her album With Suspicious Minds (2012), on which the jazz and improvisation musicians Gerhard Gschlößl , Clayton Thomas and Steve Heather participated, is an experimental encounter with songs by Elvis Presley . Another jazz album followed in 2016 with The Great Yugoslav Songbook , which was also released in Germany.
