Dora is a music festival in Croatia that has been taking place regularly since 1992. The festival did not take place between 2012 and 2018. Since 1993 it has also been Croatia's national preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest .

history

Former Dora logo

The first festival took place in 1992, with Croatia only making its debut in 1993 at the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival is named after the trophy, which represents a woman and is called Dora. It is the Croatian successor to the all-Yugoslav ESC preliminary decision Jugovizija. Traditionally, the festival was held in Opatija every year . From 1993 to 2011 the winner then represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest . The production of the festival was paused from 2012 to 2018, so that the Croatian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest has since been determined internally by HRT. In 2019 the festival took place for the first time in eight years.

The first Dora took place on February 22, 1992 in Studio 7 of HRT in Zagreb and was moderated by Ksenija Urličić. 16 juries with 6 members each decided on the winner.
