Andrea Šušnjara , better known as Andrea (born February 26, 1987 in Split , SR Croatia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian pop singer. Together with Igor Cukrov she represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and reached 18th place in the final.

Andrea Šušnjara was born in Split in 1987. She took piano lessons at the age of six, and later, when she attended a language school, the aspiring singer also took singing lessons. At the age of 17 years was at Šušnjara cancer diagnosed. She successfully fought this with numerous chemotherapies . She is currently studying pedagogy in Split.

Musical career

In 2004 Andrea took part in the Dora , the Croatian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , and thus became known to a wider audience for the first time. The then only 17-year-old interpreted the song Noah composed by Tonći Huljić, then a member of the successful Croatian band Magazin , with which she reached first place in the semifinals and came second in the final just behind Ivan Mikulić . In the same year she performed at the Split Festival with the title Kad zažmirim and received an award for best debut artist .

A year later she appeared again with the Dora, this time with the title Ljudi s mora , which was also composed by Huljić. Andrea was able to reach the final again and this time took fourth place. This was followed by featurings on albums by well-known artists, for example on an album by the Australian - British band bond and the Russian violinist Ksenija .

In order to graduate from school, she withdrew the singer from the music business a short time later. However, she followed Huljić's advice to participate in the casting for the search for the new front singer of Magazin, after which Jelena Rozga left her. Andrea was able to prevail and got the place, but had to vacate it again after the cancer diagnosed a few years earlier and the chemotherapy had weakened the health of the singer.

In 2009, Huljić asked to support Igor Cukrov in his performance of Lijepa Tena at the Dora of the same year. The singer agreed, won the Croatian preliminary decision with Cukrov and represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow . The two artists achieved 18th place with 45 points.

Since 2010 she has been the lead singer of the Magazin group .
