Danijela Martinović (born July 15, 1971 in Split , Yugoslavia , today Croatia ), also known by her first name Danijela , is a Croatian pop singer who took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 (as a member of the Magazin group ) and in 1998 for Croatia .

Career

music

She began her career as a singer in the band “ Magazin ” in 1990. In 1995 “Magazin” represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest together with Lidija Horvat Dunjko. With their title Nostalgija they took 6th place with 91 points.

In 1996 Martinović left the band to start her solo career under the name "Danijela". In 1998 she won the Croatian pre-selection Dora for the Eurovision Song Contest and was 5th in Birmingham with 131 points. In the same year, her most successful album to date, To malo ljubavi, was released . It has been sold more than 100,000 times beyond the borders of Croatia (especially in the successor states of Yugoslavia) and is therefore the best-selling album by a Croatian singer. In 1999 she was voted Performer of the Year in Macedonia. Her follow-up album I po svijetlu i po mraku sold over 45,000 copies in Croatia, making it one of the ten best-selling albums in Croatia. After a creative break, a best-of and another studio album followed in 2001.

In 2005 she competed again at the Dora and took 3rd place. In 2006 she was only 14. On the sampler Canta i baila con Danijela , her most popular songs are rearranged. Danijela wanted to give her songs Latin flair and recorded the album in Spain. The "Zlatna kolekcija" is a double CD with their most played songs. These were completely digitally reworked, as the Croatian sound technology left a lot to be desired until the mid-1990s.

December 2010 a new song called "Pola Pola" was released.

Danijela has already sung several duets with Kemal Monteno , Martin Vučić , Marko Perković and others.

play

In the sitcom Cimer fraj ("room free"), Martinović plays the role of Cvita, a singer who only sings in the local hotel and hopes for the big breakthrough to leave her provincial environment. The series runs in the first season on Nova TV (2006). A second season was planned for 2007.

Others

Martinović was born into a butcher family.

In 2006 she presented her first fashion collection for children called “DaMa”. She recently wrote a children's book of the same name with illustrations by Zorica Bonaći . In 2006 her perfume La La was released .

Life

Danijela was secretly married to Marko Perković , the singer of the band Thompson . It only became public when they got divorced. In 2006 the church marriage was annulled. Before and after her marriage, she was and is in a relationship with the singer Petar Grašo .
