Lado (ensemble)

Lado ( Croatian : Ansambl narodnih plesova i pjesama Hrvatske LADO; Croatia's national folk dance ensemble LADO) is a professional national ensemble for Croatian dance and music. In the group there are 34 dancers who also form a choir and 14 musicians who play traditional and classical musical instruments. The ensemble, founded in Zagreb in 1949 , appears in a variety of historical costumes. The group had published worldwide performances with their dance, song and music performances as well as numerous recordings.

Participation in the Eurovision Song Contest

In 2005 two musicians and three singers of the ensemble supported the singer Boris Novković as Lado Members in the Croatian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev . Her folk hit Vukovi umiru sami (wolves die alone) reached eleventh place. In 2006 five male members of the ensemble with Severina Vučković and her song Moja štikla (My High Heeled Shoe) competed again in the Eurovision Song Contest. At this time in Athens competition, they came in 13th place.
