Franka Batelić (born June 7, 1992 in Rijeka ) is a Croatian singer who became known in Croatia for her victory in the first season of the talent show Showtime . She appears under her first name Franka.

Life

Batelic grew up in the small town of Rabac . Already at the age of three she sang as a soloist in the choir "Minicantanti", which performed at festivals and events in Croatia and abroad. She plays the piano and the guitar .

After school she studied music and songwriting for two semesters at Berklee College of Music and then law at the University of Zagreb .

In 2007 she won the first season of the talent show Showtime , which is based on the American model Pop Idol . In 2009 her self-titled debut album was released. The album was fairly successful, but several singles reached the Croatian top 10.

Batelic won the fourth season of the Croatian Let's Dance ( Ples sa zvijezdama ) with the dancer Ištvan Varga in 2009 . In 2009 and 2010 she took part in the Dora, the Croatian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , without success .

After abandoning her musical career for several years, she returned in 2017 with the single Crazy , which she wrote and composed herself . With the song Franka represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Portugal. However, after participating in the first semi-final, she did not qualify for the final of the competition.

Batelić has been married to the Croatian vice world champion Vedran Ćorluka since July 21, 2018 .
