The Saarschmiede GmbH Freiformschmiede based in Völklingen existed since 1993, but has a significant long company tradition in its individual operating units. The purpose of the company is to operate an open-die forge .

The company emerged from the mining company Völklinger Eisenwerk of the Röchling brothers , founded in 1881, which became today's Saarstahl AG in the course of several mergers . In 1993 the further processing divisions of Saarstahl AG were reorganized and the Saarschmiede was founded.

Saarstahl AG is the sole owner of Saarschmiede.

Saarschmiede produces forged products for the following industry segments:

  • Special materials area

Typical products are, for example, generator shafts for power plants and crankshafts for marine diesel engines.

For this purpose, Saarschmiede u. a. via an open-die forging press with a pressing force of 12,000 tons.
