The Saavedra Rock ( Spanish Isla Mayor Saavedra ) is a cliff rock in the group of Duroch Islands off the coast of the Trinity Peninsula at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the largest of a series of rocks in the southwest corner of the natural harbor González Anchorage .

Participants of the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950–1951) named him after Major Eduardo Saavedra Rojas (1909–1971), who had participated in this research trip as a delegate of the Chilean army on board the Lautaro ship . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1964 in an adapted form.
