Saban Uzun (born May 14, 1987 in Tübingen ) is a German sports scientist and football coach .

Career as a coach

At the age of 18, Uzun coached the U-15 juniors of his home club TuS Ergenzingen. In July 2008 he moved up after three seasons with the U-15 as an assistant coach to the A-Juniors. In his first year as an assistant coach, the team just missed promotion to the EnBW league. After a year as assistant coach, Uzun was appointed head coach of the U-19 juniors with Alexander Schreiner, for which he was responsible until the end of the 2011 season.

After a short break as an active team coach, Uzun was hired in January 2013 as a technical coach for the U-10 to U-13 juniors at the VfB Stuttgart's junior performance center, before being employed as an assistant coach for the U-11 juniors a few months later took place in the youth training center. In January 2014, the then 26-year-old Uzun was poached by VfL Sindelfingen and hired as the youngest coach in the women's Bundesliga .

After three and a half years as head coach in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, Uzun decided not to extend the expiring contract. On July 1, 2017, he moved to VfL Wolfsburg. At the current German champions and DFB Cup winners, he is the head coach of the U-23 juniors.

Activities as a speaker and trainer

Since 2009, Uzun has been working in various positions at the Württemberg Football Association (WFV). Uzun started out as a DFB-Mobil-Teamer and led short training courses in the form of demo training and information evening for the youth coaches of the respective club at selected clubs.

In December 2015, Uzun was appointed to the teaching staff of the WFV and carried out decentralized training courses in the areas of child-friendly training, ball-oriented games and video and game analysis as a speaker.

In addition, Uzun was employed as a trainer and examiner at the Ruit sports school in the trainer training for the C and B license. 

Education

In October 2009, Uzun began studying sports journalism at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . As part of the practical semester, he completed his internship at VfL Wolfsburg Fußball GmbH in the media and communications department from August 2011 to March 2013. In 2013 Uzun graduated as a sports scientist with the grade "very good". He wrote his thesis at VfB Stuttgart.

Private

Saban Uzun was born as a triplet and grew up with two brothers and a sister with his parents in Ergenzingen (Rottenburg am Neckar).

He worked as an author on the biography "Echte Liebe" about Jürgen Klopp , published in 2012 .

Others

In addition to the acquired trainer licenses, Uzun successfully completed his training as a brain kinetics trainer in December 2013.

In addition to his position as team coach, Uzun also worked for the VfB Stuttgart football school from 2011 to 2014 and for Real Madrid in Germany from 2014 to 2016.

As part of a three-day internship with the professionals from Borussia Dortmund, Uzun was able to look over the shoulders of head coach Thomas Tuchel at work in September 2016.
