Fabbriche di Vergemoli is a municipality with 799 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lucca , Tuscany region in Italy .

Location of Fabbriche di Vergemoli in the province of Lucca

The place is about 18 km northwest of the provincial capital Lucca and about 71 km northwest of the regional capital Florence . The municipality is located in the Garfagnana countryside and just to the west, but not adjacent, of the upper reaches of the Serchio River .

The neighboring municipalities are Borgo a Mozzano , Gallicano , Molazzana , Pescaglia and Stazzema .

history

The municipality was created on January 1, 2014 by merging the previously independent municipalities Fabbriche di Vallico and Vergemoli . In the referendum on April 21 and 22, 2013, 88.97% (44.55% turnout) in Fabbriche di Vallico voted in favor of the union, in Vergemoli 69.71% (55.53% turnout). The law merging the two municipalities is Legge Regionale n.43 of July 30, 2013. The town hall is located in Fabbriche di Vallico.
