The place is in the upper Serchio Valley in the Garfagnana about 38 km northwest of the provincial capital Lucca and about 85 km northwest of the regional capital Florence in the climatic classification of Italian communities in zone E, 2,633 GG. An important body of water in the municipality is the Torrente Edron (5 of 8 km in the municipality), which flows between Camporgiano and Poggio da Serchio (6 of 106 km in the municipality). The churches of the parish are located in the Archdiocese of Lucca .
